Education provider seeks advertising agency + media planning and buying

Higher education provider based in central England is seeking an advertising agency for digital and print work. They also require media planning and buying, though not necessarily from the same agency. The yearly budget is £750,000 for all services, the agency will be in place by next spring to take over from the current agency next summer. They require experience of the education market and an agency where they will be medium sized in terms of size of account. They see an advantage to having a fairly local agency but this is not essential. This company’s products are used by home DIYers, the trade and industry across Europe.

The first European website was launched in 2003
Since then the site has become fragmented with all the regions hosting and updating their sites locally and independently of one other
The site now needs refreshing, updating and aligning around the brands and users more cleverly. Full build required for UK plus framework templates for other regions (Germanics (DE/NL/DK/CH), Spanish (ES/PT) and French regions. The website needs to service a number of different audiences with obvious cultural differences, the agencymust be able to demonstrate experience of this.

Max budget £40k, hoping to have an agency in place by the end of the year.

This business is looking for, initially, an experiential or guerilla marketing style agency to help them regain market penetration. Since the recession their industry (which is worth almost £2bn per year) has shrunk by 7%. Not bad, when you are as big a player in the market as they are, this can hurt. They have between £200 and £500 to spend in the autumn on a radical campaign to boost sales.

They will then also be looking for a PR firm for an initial £40k project following which the budget for a retainer has not yet been disclosed but is thought likely to be six figure.
